Those who know me know that I love Big Band music. (I often say I was born in the wrong era!) I think it’s such a fun, energetic, uplifting sound. It makes me happy and makes me want to dance – so I love to listen to it when I do tasks I don’t enjoy… like cleaning… And one of my favorite crooners to listen to is Frank Sinatra. So of course, I had to feature one of his best-known songs. New York, New York is a happy, upbeat song that always makes me want to head to New York City right away. He makes it sound so exciting that I can’t help but want to join in the fun!
What do you think – does this song make you want to head to New York City too?

I am leaving today
I want to be a part of it
New York, New York
I am leaving today
I want to be a part of it
New York, New York
These vagabond shoes
Are longing to stray
Right through the very heart of it
New York, New York
Are longing to stray
Right through the very heart of it
New York, New York
I want to wake up in a city
That doesn’t sleep
And find I’m king of the hill
Top of the heap
That doesn’t sleep
And find I’m king of the hill
Top of the heap
These little town blues
Are melting away
I’ll make a brand new start of it
In old New York
Are melting away
I’ll make a brand new start of it
In old New York
If I can make it there
I’ll make it anywhere
It’s up to you
New York, New York
I’ll make it anywhere
It’s up to you
New York, New York
I want to wake up in a city
That never sleeps
And find I’m a number one
Top of the list
King of the hill
A number one
That never sleeps
And find I’m a number one
Top of the list
King of the hill
A number one
These little town blues
All melting away
I am gonna make a brand new start of it
In old New York
All melting away
I am gonna make a brand new start of it
In old New York
And if I can make it there
I’m gonna make it anywhere
It’s up to you
New York, New York, New York
I’m gonna make it anywhere
It’s up to you
New York, New York, New York
