New York City. Busy. Alive. Vibrant. At least, that’s how I see it in my mind. I haven’t yet made it to this unique American city with it’s melting pot of people and cultures, but I really want to go! (Remember this song that I posted last week?!)
I love big cities. I love their vibrant energy, the rush of all the places to see and things to do. Even as an introvert, I love being surrounded by people and watching them go about their lives. (as long as I don’t have to interact with hordes of them! ;)) So without further ado, here are some things I’d love to see and do in NYC.
#1 – See some of the popular sites
From the Brookyln Bridge to Times Square. From the Empire State Building to Central Park. From Rockefeller Center to The Plaza Hotel. I want to experience the well-known staples of New York City. They may be some of the “tourist” things to do – but it’s always fun to see places for yourself and say, “I’ve been there!”
#2 – BROADWAY
Music is in my soul so there’s very little chance I’d go to NYC without at least attempting to see a show on Broadway. I probably should have put this as number 1, but I didn’t want to seem too weird off the bat. 😉 But honestly, if I only got to do one thing in NYC, I’d probably chose to see a Broadway show. (Also, as a musician, I’d love to attend a concert in Carnegie Hall and maybe even sing there someday…)
#3 – Statue of Liberty
I’d love to visit the Statue of Liberty, along with Ellis Island, and put myself in the place of new immigrants as they eagerly sought a new and better life for themselves and their families. What would that moment have felt like as they saw Lady Liberty welcoming them to it’s shores?
#4 – Shop
I just want to wander the streets and look at the window displays and explore the stores. I don’t have a lot of particular stores in mind nor anything special I want to buy. I enjoy just looking around. But I would like to see the iconic Macy’s store, perhaps roam through Kate Spade, and get a little bit of child-like wonder at the Toys R Us. And this bookstore definitely needs a visit from me too.
#5 – Eat
There’s so many delicious sounding food options in New York City that I wouldn’t know where to begin to narrow them down. From award winning chefs, to TV personalities, to local cafes and bakeries, to street food… I feel like the options are endless and endlessly exciting! Who knows what wonderful tasty things you will discover! But it should certainly include some authentic New York pizza and frozen hot chocolate at Serendipity. Also, I just found out that my favorite Italian gelato place, Grom, has some stores in NYC too!
